German Mountain Bike League at Albstadt: Four Top 15 results for FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team

Tuesday, June 15, 2010
In the pouring rain the third race of the German Mountain Bike League in the Swabian Albstadt took place last sunday. By Sabine Spitz and Moritz Milatz two German athletes celebrated their first victory of the season. The FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team achieved four top 15 results. Only Simon Scheiber, who seems to be dogged by bad luck, had to drop out of the race with technical problems in a promising position.

Klemencic on 8th place
The recovered Olympic champion Sabine Spitz (GER) had the fewest problems with the slippery and deep surface at the Cross Country race in Albstadt and managed to land her first victory of the season before teammate Lisi Osl (AUT) and Annika Langvad from Denmark. With her 8th place Blaza Klemencic of FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team was once again the best athlete of her team. The 30-year-old Slovenian crashed on a very slippery downhill as many riders on that day, which prevented a better placement. Her German teammate Adelheid Morath finished on rank 14. "I was looking forward on this race. But I had to struggle with technical problems at my bike in the first round. Then it is very hard to come back at these adverse conditions", reported the German marathon champion disappointed.

Markt with great comeback
At the victory of Moritz Milatz, Karl Markt (AUT) from FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team demonstrated fighting spirit. After problems in the first lap, Markt caught up place by place and finished on rank 13. "I am very satisfied with this result and with my performance today. With a better start a Top 10 ranking would have been possible", said Markt after the race in Albstadt. Last year's champion Florian Vogel from Switzerland finished on second place just before his countryman Lukas Flückiger, who stood on the podium as third.

Reis on position 11, Scheiber with bad luck
Despite two crashes and a flat tire the German U23 champion Manfred Reis finished on a strong 11th place in the U23 category. His Austrian team-mate Simon Scheiber, however, seems to be dogged by bad luck. Just recovered from his second ligament injury in the current season, Scheiber had to quit the race in the penultimate lap after problems with the shifters when he was on position six. Marcel Fleschhut (GER) won the race before his countryman Markus Bauer.

This week the FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team is in Ötztal (AUT) for training purposes and some sponsors meetings.
