Worldcup in Windham: Adelheid Morath makes first step toward London Olympics

Wednesday, July 13, 2011
The women of the FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Team stole the show from the men in the team at the fifth Worldcup of the season in Windham, USA. Most notably it was Adelheid Morath who had an impressive day! With her 14th place Morath is one important step closer to the Olympic Games 2012. The BDR set the condition to two ranks inside the Top15 and Morath now jumped this hurdle once.

Even better raced Slovenian National Champion Blaza Klemencic, who came in 8th and made her second top10 result of the World Cup season perfect. Happy about the great race she is looking forward: “One week ago in Canada I was tired. The Marathon World Champs and the long trip shortly before the race was not the best preparation. But I regenerated well and was in good shape in Windham with the material working perfectly. Now with two more World Cups coming up I will work hard to reach my goal: the podium!”

Unhealthy Litscher makes it to the top15
In Windham the men did not perform up to standard. Thomas Litscher, who had to fight a cold during the whole week, had a great start riding into fifth position however the physical demanding course took its toll. The U23 silver medallist at last year´s world championships dropped back to 27th position before starting to feel better again in the 4th lap. Litscher pulled up regardless of the consequences. Riding his FELT Edict, he struck back right in the moment when his rival’s legs became tired. He overtook more than 10 riders and rode back into 14th position and proved: “the race is not over until you cross the finish line”
