Sarah Hammer set a new
world record in the women’s 3,000-meter individual pursuit while competing at the 2010
Pan American Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Hammer rode her
Felt TK1 to the incredible time of 3:22.269, smashing the old record, set by Sarah Ulmer of New Zealand at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, by more than two seconds.
Hammer’s record-breaking ride came in the qualifying round of competition. She went on to
win the gold medal in the final, beating Maria Luisa Calle of Colombia.
