Next big win for FELT racextract. Athlete Andi Böcherer! The 27 year old triathlete from Freiburg wins the 70.30 Ironman European Championships in Wiesbaden in 4:08:36! After his injury break, he definitely is back and finally qualified for the Ironman World Champs in Hawaii.
In third position, Andi Böcherer came out of the water and took the lead on km 11 on the bike that he never gave away till the finish line! Böcherer showed a great race but also profited from the rejection of two time world champion Michael Raelert. His biggest rival, Sebastian Kienle, had to quit the race after several crashes on the bike, but with more than 3 minutes behind Böcherer after the swim, he was no big danger for the later winner from the FELT racextract. Triathlon team. However, Böcherer safely steered his FELT DA on the wet streets and took the lead at km 11. In 2:25:07, he completed the 90 km bike ride with more than 1450 height gain on wet streets! That was the key to success! With more than 2 minutes ahead, Böcherer got off the bike and left no doubt that he will defend this lead until the finish line and claims the European Championship title!
Böcherer is the fourth German European Champion in a row. After Faris Al-Sultan 2008, Sebastian Kienle 2009 and Michael Raelert 2010, Böcherer adds his name on the winners list of big triathletes!
