Bozzone scores second place at Ironman New Zealand

Saturday, March 06, 2010
New Zealand — Terenzo Bozzone made his first Ironman competition on a Felt bike one to remember, finishing a strong second at Saturday’s Ironman New Zealand.

The 24-year-old Bozzone, one of the sport’s up-and-coming stars, jumped to a big lead on the bike before he was eventually caught and passed by fellow New Zealander Cameron Brown.

Bozzone came out of the Lake Taupo swim in second position, 51 seconds behind leader Kieran Doe. Bozzone, the 2008 Ironman 70.3 World Champion, started off hammering on his Felt DA and quickly moved into the lead. By the 60km mark, he had built a lead of more than 6 minutes.

Brown finally caught Bozzone 10km into the run. Bozzone held his second-place position to the line, beating Doe by 4:16 and racking up an impressive finish in his first Ironman riding Felt.
