Thomas Litscher won the Eliminator Sprint race at the World Cup in Offenburg and rides further to the front topping his best Elite result again in Offenburg with his 9th place on Sunday!
With his widely open jersey and totally exhausted, Litscher was lying on the ground after the finish line. It was a hard race for the Swiss young rider. From the beginning, a group of ten distanced the rest of the field. Litscher was with all the favourites in this group including Absalon, Schurter and Kulhavy and strongly rode with them until a technical problem stopped him for a moment. Litscher lost contact to the group, had to ride alone for several kilometres, but never gave up: With great effort, he rejoined the group with Fontana, Schurter and Giger but later winner Absalon, runner up Kulhavy and Marotte already were up and away. In the end, the crowed loudly cheered for the rider of the local FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Team and welcomed him with a strong applause as the ninth rider at the finish line – again topping his best result in an Elite World Cup race!
Blaza Klemencic and Adelheid Morath are back!
After bad luck in Pietermaritzburg and a bad day in Dalby Forest, Slovenian National champion Blaza Klemencic is back!
With her 7th place, she rode back into the Top 10 and made everybody forget her bad start into the World Cup season.
Along the way, Adelheid Morath showed the world that her time of rest definitely is over. Due to her forced break after surgery she missed the World Cups in South Africa and Dalby and gained no points there, meaning starting position 81 of 84 riders. But that could not stop her in the first Elite race in 2011: She overtook more than 50 riders and came in on 23rd position! What a comeback on this hard and spectacular course for the German rider!
