Eva Lechner with first World Cup victory
After four grueling rounds the South Tyrolean Eva Lechner celebrated the first World Cup victory of her career. Just five seconds after the Italian Willow Koerber (USA) came as second to the finish as at the World Cup opener in Dalby Forest. She was followed by Lisi Osl from Austria. After a fantastic start Blaza Klemencic passed the finish line after startloop as seventh. Although their forces vanished in the progress of the race, her 16th place offers her a much better starting position for the next World Cup in Offenburg. Her teammate Sabrina Enaux (FRA), who finished on a fantastic 17th rank in Dalby, crashed in the startloop and had to be content with place 32 this time. The German vice champion Adelheid Morath came in on position 50. "I tried everything, but today it was extremely difficult. My forces were limited today, "said the 25-year-old from Freiburg.

Hermida prevents German triumph
With Manuel Fumic and Wolfram Kurschat two German men have made the leap to the podium. Fumic could not save his four rounds lasting leadership to the finish. The Spaniard Jose Antonio Hermida had the largest energy reserves in the final round and won with an advance of 57 seconds. The first three of the previous week, Nino Schurter (15th place), Julien Absalon (7th) and Burry Stander (17th) had to contend with some technical problems and could not intervene in the fight for podium. Despite problems with the slippery underground Karl Markt (AUT) rode to place 59. As in Dalby Forest his compatriot Simon Scheiber performed very strong and finished as 62nd in the overall results and 12th among the U23 riders. The German under-23 champion Manfred Reis complained of severe abdominal pain and escaped in the first round. Even worse, it caught his Australian colleague, Paul van der Ploeg, who dislocated his shoulder in the startloop. Although the staff succeeded in setting the shoulder he was not able to go on racing: "I had too much pain. Now I have to look ahead."
