Camberley, Surrey, 11th March 2010 – This weekend saw the launch and start to a successful 2010 road racing season for the newly formed Felt Colbornes Cycling Team. Colbornes Group hosted the team launch event at their Camberley Audi Showroom with an evening of drinks, cake, bikes, cars and lycra!
Colbornes Group, with Audi, VW and Skoda dealerships in Guildford, Basingstoke, Camberley, Walton and Woking have joined forces with Saddleback Ltd, importers of Felt Bicycles, SRAM, Zipp, Castelli, Vredestein and Accerlerade to create and support a UK cycling team who will target the UK’s elite road racing calendar.
The existing Felt Bicycles road team of five riders have been one of the most competitive small teams on the UK circuit in 2009. The Felt Bicycles road team will form the basis of the new Felt Colbornes Cycling Team. The new partnership and increased support will allow the team to flourish in the UK.
Support from existing sponsors Roadwheel.co.uk of Fleet and Tiger Communications (Tigercomms.com) has continued.
The Felt Colbornes cycling team riders have been well equipped for the job, Colbornes Group have supplied a brand new Skoda Octavia estate car for support in the premier racing events. The Skoda Octavia estate car has been fully wrapped with the teams colours and will be a great tool for promoting the team. Saddleback Ltd has supplied the team with Felt AR1 carbon fibre aero road bikes that are custom specified with SRAM Force, Zipp carbon fibre wheels, Vredestein tubular tyres. Ritchey components have stepped in to supply Ritchey handlebars, stems and saddles.
With this additional support the Felt Colbornes team have been able to add to the rider line-up and bring in some real firepower, to ensure Felt Colbornes is one of the most competitive teams on the UK circuit.
The team line-up consists of: Justin Hoy – Elite, John Wager – Elite, Tim Elverson – Elite, Lee Smith – Elite, Tom Smith – Elite, Ian Legg – Elite, Duncan Jamieson - 1st, Pete Wager - 1st, Richard Mardle - 1st, James Taylor - 1st, David Curtis-Whitfield - 2nd, Gary Clark - 2nd.
