Silver! Litscher wins the silver medal with the Swiss National Team

Thursday, September 01, 2011
Silver start into the World Championships! FELT ÖZTAL X-BIONIC rider Thomas Litscher and the Swiss team win the silver medal in the Team Relay. France wins Gold.
Litscher was the first rider to enter the course for the Swiss Team and had to fight Jaroslav Kulhavy and Manuel Fumic in the first lap. No easy task with the euphoric Swiss crowd cheering and expecting the win from the Swiss team on home ground.
In 12:13 min, Litscher changed in 6th position with Manuel Fumic in front, followed by the man of the year, Jaroslav Kulhavy.
All that Litscher could do now was to wait and cheer on this team mates Forster, Schneitter and Schurter as the race for the medal was in their hands.
Foster and Schneitter rode the team into 4th position before their last rider, Nino Schurter, entered the course for the final showdown in the last lap. And the dream came true. Schurter and Marotte dominated the last lap and kicked the Netherlands and Canadians out of the medal ranks, but Schurter could not close the gap to Marotte, who secured the win for France. Silver for the Swiss team and Bronze went to Italy!
But there was another duel, that took our attention:

Kerschbaumer vs. Litscher! The Swiss takes the psychological advantage
Two hot candidates for the gold medal in the U23 race already met for in the first lap of the Team Relay.
A foretaste for the race on Friday and a first duel between the two riders, that Litscher clearly won.
Litscher came to the changing zone 19 seconds ahead of his rival Kerschbaumer! A big gap after just one round of racing! But winning the gold medal on Friday won’t be that easy.
