Millar Scores Silver at Worlds TT!

Thursday, September 30, 2010
Australia — British veteran David Millar rode his Felt DA to a silver medal in the elite men’s time trial at the 2010 UCI Road World Championships in Melbourne, Australia.

Millar started his race strong, laying down the fastest opening spit on the 45.8-kilometer course. Starting fifth from last, he was the first rider to break the hour mark, with a time of 59:11.94. In the end, the Garmin-Transitions rider finished just over a minute behind Swiss rider Fabian Cancellara, who captured his fourth World Championship gold in the time trial.

“I came here hoping to get on the podium and that’s what I did,” Millar told Cyclingnews.com. “My tactic was the opposite of Fabian’s, it was to attack the first lap and then hang on for dear life. And that’s basically what I did.”

Also putting in a strong performance riding Felt was Millar’s American teammate David Zabriskie. The four-time U.S. time trial champion finished eighth, giving Felt two top-10 finishes among the elite men.

The UCI Road World Championships continues throughout the weekend in Australia.
