Garmin-Transitions’ lead sprinter, American Tyler Farrar, will test his early-season form in the Persian Gulf this week, as he kicks off his 2010 season with Tour of Qatar stage race. The roads of this six-day race, which starts with a team time trial on Sunday, are mostly flat, with the main challenge being the punishing winds that buffet this area on the northern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.
Farrar will be supported by a seven-man team including Canadian Svein Tuft and Belgian Johan Van Summeren, a newcomer to the team.
The team will start their week in Qatar by racing their Felt DA TT bikes against the clock on Sunday’s 8.2-kilometer Team Time Trial.
