Garmin-Transitions wraps up 2010 pre-season camp
Monday, February 01, 2010
January is training camp season for pro road teams, and the Garmin-Transitions squad just wrapped up a two-week camp in Spain. Riders tested out new Felt bikes, endured a bit of rain, and put in some long miles together as they got reacquainted before the 2010 season heats up.
Technically, the season is already underway, and the squad already has two wins in Australia in the books. Some of the riders missed the first half of camp while they were competing at the Tour Down Under stage race in Australia, the first race of the 2010 ProTour series, but everyone was together in Calpe, Spain, last week as the team dialed in their Felt DA time trial bikes on a 5-kilometer circuit. They tested new wheels and adjusted their positions.
Riders also underwent physiology testing to help team doctors determine individual training plans for each of the team members. The doctors take the data they obtain through testing and then consult with each of the riders, who utilize their Garmin 500 to keep track of things like heart rate, cadence, speed and elevation while training.
Next up for the Garmin-Transitions squad is the Tour of Qatar, February 7-12.
